Expressive Arts and Design
Expressive arts and design focuses on enhancing young children's imagination, creativity and self-expression. At ABC Pre-School children are encouraged to play with a wide range of media and materials to explore colour, texture and sound. Examples include musical instruments, play-dough, sand and craft activities such as painting, junk modelling and sticking. Children are provided with opportunities and encouragement for sharing their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance and role play.
Understanding the World
Understanding the World teaches children about the their world and communities. It involves exploring people, culture, communities and the natural world through stories, technology and lived experiences. At ABC Pre-School we learn about our families, different cultures and beliefs, people that help us (Police Officers, Doctors, Nurses, etc.). We learn about the natural world through exploring nature such as planting, going on nature walks, looking at insects and watching and observing and interacting with natural processes such as ice melting and caterpillars grow into butterflies.
