All Early Years settings follow a structure of learning, development and care for children from age two to age five. This is called the Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS). The EYFS is a curriculum produced by the Department for Education (DFE) that is split into seven areas of learning. Within these seven areas your child will learn to grow and develop the skills needed for future academic and social success.

The three prime areas form the foundation for future learning and build essential skills needed for your child to begin their school journey:
● Communication and language.
● Physical development.
● Personal, social and emotional development.

As your child grows these skills will help him or her to develop skills in the four specific areas:
● Literacy.
● Mathematics.
● Understanding the world.
● Expressive arts and design.

Children's learning and activities are planned around these seven areas. This is designed to be flexible so that our staff can follow your child's unique needs and interests. Each child has their own Learning Journey which is completed during their time at the Pre-school.
